Val Thorens Overview

Between late November and early May each season, Europe’s highest resort buzzes with so much activity and fun that you can feel it.

Val Thorens has repeatedly been voted the Best Ski Resort in the World, not just for its location at the highest point of the Three Valleys but for its innovation, access to impressive off-piste terrain and community spirit.

Set on a vast natural cirque overlooked by six glaciers, its highest point at Cime de Caron offers 360 degree views of the Alps.  There’s now also a cable car link between the Orelle sector and the centre of the resort, offering holidaymakers a new way to access the 3V, Les Trois Vallées, area.

The resort’s purpose-built facades have been upgraded and a number of four and five star hotels have opened so while you and your party crew will feel at home in Val Thorens, so will families or couples looking for doorstep skiing and a stylish mountain bolt-hole.

Skiing & Snowboarding in Val Thorens & Les Trois Vallées

Val Thorens’ 150km of slopes forms part of the 600km Les Trois Vallees ski area, perfect for ambitious intermediates who want to get plenty of kilometres under their skis or boards or even ski the entire 3V in one day.

Skiing is above the tree line so on white-out days, head down the valley to find shelter and definition on forest runs in Meribel.

Off piste options are excellent and you can try everything from boardercross to ski touring, telemark and monoskiing.

Val Thorens Winter Opening

Val Thorens opens for winter November 20th 2021 and closes May 9th 2022.
